Your Portrait Session is Booked…Let’s Celebrate!
Thank you for booking your portrait session with Still and Wild Photography. This is such an exciting step, and we can’t wait to capture meaningful, authentic images of you and your loved ones. To make sure everything goes smoothly, here’s what to expect and how to prepare.
What to Expect on the Day
Portrait sessions are relaxed, fun, and designed to highlight genuine connection. Here’s a quick look at how things unfold:
Arrival & Getting Comfortable – We’ll take a few minutes to chat, settle in, and ease into the session.
Guided Posing & Direction – No need to worry about “what to do with your hands” — we’ll guide you through natural poses and prompts.
Capturing Connection – Expect laughter, candid moments, and gentle direction to help you look and feel your best.
Timeframe – Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes.
How to Prepare
A little preparation helps you feel confident and relaxed.
Wardrobe Tips
Choose outfits that make you feel great and fit the tone of your session.
Coordinating (not matching) colors work beautifully for families or groups.
Avoid loud patterns or large logos that can distract from faces.
Mindset Tips
Don’t stress — the best portraits come from natural moments.
If it’s a family session, prepare kids by telling them it’s going to be fun, not a chore.
Bring water, snacks, or anything that helps you stay comfortable.
When you arrive
Some sessions will be at the studio and some sessions will be out in nature. Please arrive about 5 minutes prior to your session. Please remove any smart watches and hair bands from your wrists. Sessions typically begin with the full family so please have everyone in your group arrive on time. If we are out in nature I always suggest bringing bug spray.
After the Session
Gallery Delivery – Your edited images will be delivered in a private online gallery within [7 days].
Image Selection – Depending on your package, you’ll choose your favorites for download. Additional images are always available for purchase.
Prints & Products – Professional prints, albums, and wall art can be ordered directly from your gallery for heirloom-quality keepsakes.
FAQs
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate? We’ll keep an eye on the forecast and reschedule if needed. We may also move your outdoor session into the studio
Can we include pets? Pets are tricky. If we are doing a session on you personal property than of course they are always welcome. I love animals. I don't typically allow pets in the studio without prior approval. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed during any mini sessions because there will be many people attending who may not be comfortable with pets
What if someone feels shy in front of the camera? That’s normal! We’ll guide you with prompts and create a relaxed atmosphere so genuine expressions shine through.
What if my session needs to be rescheduled or cancelled? Sessions are typically nonrefundable. Whenever possible we will work to reschedule if possible. Please reach out with as much notice as possible.
